Job Overview: A leading law firm in Los Angeles, California, is seeking a dedicated Pre-Litigation Attorney to join its Personal Injury department. This role focuses on overseeing and managing pre-litigation matters, ensuring the best outcomes for clients through effective case management and negotiation. The Pre-Litigation Attorney will collaborate with multiple departments, including Workers’ Compensation, and be instrumental in handling claims from inception through settlement.

Location:
Duties:
- Oversee and manage up to 250 pre-litigation matters with the assistance of case managers
- Assist case managers in managing medical treatment for pre-litigation cases
- Conduct investigations for pre-litigation and potential litigation matters
- Maintain an open-door policy for case managers to present matters for review
- Negotiate pre-litigation settlements and provide direction on case valuation
- Retain medical and legal experts as needed for case evaluation
- Supervise up to five pre-litigation case managers
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients and staff throughout the pre-litigation process
- Conduct legal research on relevant issues, prepare legal documents such as summons and complaints
- Propound and respond to written discovery, draft meet and confer letters
- Prepare clients for depositions and other hearings, including minor’s compensation hearings
- Defend and take depositions, handle law and motion, and attend mediations and court appearances
- Conduct monthly file reviews with team members and oversee liability investigations
- Manage medical aspects of cases, including reviewing medical reports and recommendations
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active CA State Bar membership
- Minimum of three years of experience in a Personal Injury law firm
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage "problematic" clients
- Ability to handle case evaluations, investigations, and settlements
- Familiarity with Workers' Compensation terminology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
Education:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in California
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical and legal experts, mediators, and arbitrators
- Ability to negotiate settlements and manage pre-litigation cases
- Proficiency in MS Office, LEXIS-NEXIS, and Westlaw
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation timelines, premises liability cases, and related legal statutes
