Role Overview: We’re seeking a driven and skilled Associate Attorney with a strong background in defense-side workers’ compensation litigation to join a thriving, inclusive legal team. This is more than just a role—it’s a gateway to doing meaningful work.

Core Responsibilities
  • Advocateeffectivelyonbehalfofinsurancecarriers,TPAs,andself-insuredemployersinallphasesofworkers’compensation litigation.
  • Draftandrespondtopleadings,motions,andotherlegaldocuments.
  • Prepareaccurateandtimelycorrespondencetoclientsandstakeholders.
  • Representclientsatcourtappearances,hearings,depositions,andcross-examinations,includingofmedicalprofessionals.
  • Negotiatecasesettlements,lien claims,andpreparesettlementdocuments.
  • Manageandmaintainanorganizedcasecalendartoensurecompliancewithdeadlines.
  • Proactivelymanagecasesfrominceptionthroughresolution.
  • Superviseandmentorlegalassistantstoensurehigh-qualitysupportanddevelopment.
  • Fosterandmaintainpositiverelationshipswithclients,colleagues,vendors,andthirdparties.
  • Attendandparticipateinmarketingandnetworkingeventswithcurrentandprospectiveclients.
  • Inputandtrackcaseactivities,correspondence,andbillablehoursinlegalpracticesoftware(e.g.,Practice Master,billing systems).
  • Conducttrainingseminarsforclientsonrecentupdatestoworkers’compensation laws.
  • Staycurrentonlegislativeandcaselawchangesimpactingtheworkers’compensation landscape.
  • Attendinternalclientfilereviewsandcontributetostrategiccaseplanning.
Essentials
  • Demonstratedaminimumofexperiencerangingupto5+yearsonthedefenseside
  • J.D.fromanaccreditedlawschoolandactivelicensetopracticelawinCalifornia
  • Experience with Practice Masterorsimilarsoftware
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word,Outlook,Excel),andlegalresearchtoolssuchas

    Lexis Nexisor Westlaw .
  • Skilledindeposition-taking,cross-examinations,andcourtroompresentation.
  • Abilitytomanagedigitalrecords,andcompliancewithcourte-filing systems.
  • In-depthknowledgeofworkers’compensation laws,procedures,andrelevantcaselaw.
  • Exceptionalverbalandwrittencommunicationskillsforcorrespondence,negotiation,and litigation.
  • Strongtimemanagement,attentiontodetail,andabilitytohandlemultipletasksundertightdeadlines.
  • Abilitytoassesslegalissues,identify risks,anddeveloppractical,results-oriented solutions.
  • Proventrackrecordoflitigationandcaseresolutionsuccess
  • Workwellwithleadershipcollaborationsandwelcomeconstructivefeedback

Compensation

The projected annual salary is estimated at the range $100,000 - $220,000 per year, based on years of experience and demonstrated expertise. The actual compensation will be formulated by the client and may vary based on factors that include, but are not limited to, the position offered, work experience, education, training, and commensurate experience.
