Position Type: Direct Hire - Onsite

Compensation: $153,000 - $215,000 per year

Experience Level: 3-6 years medical malpractice litigation

License: Active California Bar License Required

Position Overview

Our client, a leading law firm specializing in medical malpractice defense, is seeking two skilled Litigation Attorneys—one for the Los Angeles office and one for the Orange County office. The Litigation Attorney will manage all aspects of case preparation and litigation support, excluding trial and arbitration presentation. This role requires deep expertise in medical malpractice law, strong analytical skills, and the ability to develop strategic case approaches.

Key Responsibilities Case Management & Litigation Support
  • Collaborate closely with trial attorneys in developing litigation, discovery, and investigation strategies.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Attend and participate in court appearances.
  • Prepare cases for trial or arbitration, ensuring all filing deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Handle deposition representation for “Depo-only” cases.
  • Assist with preparation of comprehensive reports to Claims Specialists at all phases of litigation.
  • Respond to Claims Department “hotline” inquiries as needed.
Collaboration & Compliance
  • Ensure cost-effective case preparation and overall defense strategy.
  • Share legal knowledge and case insights with other attorneys.
  • Comply with Defense Attorney Guidelines.
  • Work closely with Claims Specialists to achieve consensus on defense planning.
Team & Leadership
  • Operate independently while contributing to team success.
  • Mentor and support junior attorneys and staff counsel as needed.
  • Promote a collaborative and enthusiastic team environment.
Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3-6 years of medical malpractice litigation experience required.
Licenses & Skills
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of California.
  • Strong understanding of medical issues relevant to malpractice claims.
  • Excellent written, oral advocacy, and case-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
