Overview
Highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Practice Assistant (LPA) to support its Trial and Litigation Group in either the Los Angeles or San Diego, CA office. This is a full-time, onsite position supporting a robust litigation practice involving complex civil matters in California state and federal courts.
ResponsibilitiesThe Legal Practice Assistant will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, and reports. The role requires the ability to format and file court documents in compliance with applicable California state and federal court rules, including both electronic and in-person filings, as well as generating Tables of Authorities and Tables of Contents using firm software.
The position also involves managing attorney calendars using Compu Law or similar systems, collaborating closely with attorneys and staff to ensure deadlines and firm best practices are met, and utilizing legal technology such as MS Office, iManage, CCC Macros, Adobe, and time and billing systems. The ideal candidate will maintain accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism while handling a high-volume workload.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of seven (7) years of legal secretary or legal assistant experience, with prior litigation experience in California state and federal courts required. Appellate experience is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to multitask, prioritize work, and operate independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
