Worker's Compensation Case Manager / Legal Assistant (Applicant-Side)
Salary: $25–$32/hour (DOE)
Hybrid (remote/in office) available.
We are an applicant-side Workers’ Compensation law firm located in Granada Hills, CA. We are looking for an experienced, skilled, fast, and reliable Case Manager who can directly support one attorney's caseload.
This is a long-term, hybrid (remote/in-office) position for someone who wants stability, a strong team, and a professional, organized environment.

Position:
Worker's Compensation Case Manager / Legal Assistant
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least 1 year of workers’ compensation experience (applicant-side preferred; 2-7 years of work comp experience also preferred)
- Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
- Is extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Can handle a very fast-paced environment.
- Can support the attorney immediately.
- Is confident speaking with clients, adjusters, and defense attorneys.
- Understands med-legal timelines, WC issues, and WC strategy.
- Works well independently without constant supervision.
- Moves cases forward proactively.
This is NOT an entry-level role.
This position requires someone who already knows workers’ compensation.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be the primary support for one attorney. Your responsibilities include:
Attorney Email & Communication
- Respond to routine emails
Client Communication
- Answer client calls and give status updates
- Schedule client-attorney calls when necessary
- Handle escalated client concerns professionally
- Confirm depositions with all parties
- Maintain the attorney's calendar
- Add reminders and deadlines
Drafting & Legal Writing
- Draft DORs
- Draft objections
- Draft petitions from templates
Case Management
- Schedule PTP and Panel QME evaluations.
- Review QME/AME reports for action items
- Update case notes/summaries and keep cases organized in our case management system (Merus Case)
- Communicate with defense regarding scheduling and other issues
- Prepare case summaries as needed
- Minimum 1 year workers’ compensation experience
- Experience supporting 1–2 WC attorneys and managing a caseload
- Knowledge of depositions, DORs, objections, discovery, med-legal deadlines, RFAs, and panel process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent telephone communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe
- Ability to multitask efficiently
- Reliable and professional
(Not required but a HUGE plus)
- 2–7 years applicant-side WC experience
- Experience drafting petitions
- Experience with Merus Case
- Experience working with high caseloads (200+ files)
- Knowledge of EAMS filing
