Job Description
Liberty Behavioral & Community Services Inc. is seeking a full-time, onsite In-House Counsel (Employment, Corporate & Behavioral Health Compliance) to serve as a key legal partner supporting employment law, corporate matters, and behavioral health regulatory compliance within a highly regulated service environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal guidance on California employment and labor laws, including wage and hours, employee classification, leaves, accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with California Labor Code, FEHA, CFRA/FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and applicable healthcare workforce regulations.
- Draft, review, and maintain employee handbooks, HR policies, and operational procedures.
- Advice on behavioral health licensing, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Support compliance with HIPAA, privacy laws, and confidentiality standards.
- Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, clinical service, and partnership agreements.
- Respond to and manage DLSE, EEOC, and CRD (DFEH) matters.
- Partner with executive leadership, HR, and clinical teams to mitigate risk and support ethical operations.
- Coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active California State Bar membership in good standing.
- 5–8+ years of experience in employment and corporate law.
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws and healthcare/behavioral health regulations.
- Prior experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or human services strongly preferred.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and collaborative skills.
- 100% onsite position.
- Direct collaboration with executive leadership, HR, and clinical teams.

Employment Type:
Full-Time Salary Range: $220,000 – $240,000 annually.
