This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus. LOCATION REQUIREMENT:
This position services Insureds/Agents in West Los Angeles County. The selected candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate at their own expense to the assigned territory. Ideal locations include Los Angeles, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Santa Monica, El Monte, Inglewood, Torrance, Downey, Norwalk and the surrounding areas. Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for the handling of first party property claims including investigating, evaluating, estimating and negotiating to ensure optimal claim resolution for personal or business claims of moderate severity and complexity.
This role involves handling one or more lines of business other than property (e.g., auto, workers compensation, premium audit, underwriting) as required. It provides quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle (customer contacts, coverage, investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation and resolution) including maintaining full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state-specific regulations. This position is based 100% remotely and may include a combination of mobile work and/or work from your primary residence.
Will You Do?
- Handle 1st party property claims of moderate severity and complexity as assigned.
- Complete field inspection of losses including accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer assisted estimates.
- Broad scale use of innovative technologies.
- Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability of first-party property damage claims, including analyzing leases, contracts, by-laws and other relevant documents; secure statements as appropriate.
- Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
- Determine appropriate settlement amount based on independent judgment, estimates, valuation methods and applicable limits/deductibles; coordinate with Independent Adjusters.
- Negotiate with multiple constituents and convey claim settlements within authority limits.
- Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights and other complex correspondence.
- Assess extent of damages and manage costs using appropriate evaluation tools.
- Meet all quality standards and maintain required diary/documentation per procedures.
- Manage file inventory and ensure timely resolution of cases; handle files in compliance with state regulations where applicable.
- Provide excellent customer service to insureds, agents and internal/external partners.
- Refer claims to Travelers Special Investigations Unit and/or Subrogation Unit when appropriate; identify Major Case Unit exposure.
- Perform administrative functions as required (expense accounts, time reporting, etc.).
- Provide multi-line assistance in response to workforce management needs; including claim handling for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability and other areas as needed.
- Mentor and coach less experienced claim professionals when possible.
- Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials and other legal proceedings as needed.
- CAT Duty – participate in the Catastrophe Response Program, which could include deployment of at least 16 days (including travel days) to assist customers in other states.
- Secure and maintain company credit card as required.
- Acquire and maintain Insurance License(s) as required; obtain continuing education credits as mandated.
- On a rotational basis, engage in resolution desk technical work and follow-up calls.
- Access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure; physical requirements include carrying, setting up and climbing a ladder (38 to 49 pounds), walking on roofs, and entering tight spaces as needed for catastrophe deployment.
