Movement Innovation Collaborative (MIC) is a new time-limited entity that will deepen and expand the capacity, impact, and sustainability of California's grassroots movements for racial justice and social transformation. Through offerings that are additive and synergistic with existing movement efforts, the MIC will support changemakers and organizations in catalyzing innovations in movement strategy, power‑building, intergenerational leadership development, and collective long‑term sustainability and resilience.
Through a network of physical and virtual “centers,” the MIC will also contribute a key piece of infrastructure to fuel transformative structural change across California. This network will comprise new and existing centers serving hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of grassroots leaders across California.
The CRM Manager leads and executes the design, build, and maintenance of the MIC’s Salesforce CRM database, under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Operations and Culture and in close collaboration with the Data Strategist and the program team. This position is responsible for building on our initial CRM discovery with additional detailed discovery and then designing and configuring a Salesforce instance from the ground up.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
The person in this role must bring a strong understanding of the Salesforce platform options for nonprofits, along with the ability to understand our organizational needs and translate them into an effectively configured Salesforce instance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders across the organization and be able to clearly explain design options and their tradeoffs.
Current CRM environment / conditions- Remote‑first organization with 15‑20 staff across California and one office location in the Los Angeles area
- No central CRM is in use
- Data that will go into the CRM is in spreadsheets, with some historical information in Airtable
- Basic discovery has been completed, resulting in requirements that Salesforce has been validated against, a draft simplified ERD, and a draft data dictionary that is known to be incomplete

- Conduct detailed discovery
- With staff input and buy‑in, design Salesforce configuration for overall relationship management, program participation, and institutional fundraising
- Configure Salesforce in alignment with the design
- Migrate data in collaboration with staff

- Participate in additional activities in collaboration with other staff to prepare, equip, and support people for the change that comes from the rollout of a new CRM
- 3‑5 years’ experience configuring Salesforce in nonprofit contexts, including fields, objects, pages, roles, profiles, permission sets, flows, and reports and dashboards
- Salesforce Platform Administrator or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification a major plus
- Experience eliciting detailed requirements from system users
- Experience designing Salesforce features based on user requirements
- Experience putting user‑centered design principles into practice
- Experience developing and delivering trainings and people‑centered support to stakeholders across the organization
