The Information Technology organization is the technological foundation of our business and works in collaboration with our partners from across the company. The team drives technology and digital transformation, partners with business leaders to design and execute new strategies through IT and operations services and ensures the necessary IT risk management and security measures are in place and aligned with enterprise architecture standards and principles.
AboutThe Role
The primary purpose of the job is to provide end-to-end Business Analysis and Project Management services in support of the development of the Actuarial Data Repository (ADR) managed by the Actuarial Information Technology group. The analyst will work closely with actuarial teams for annuity valuation, experience studies, and reinsurance. The analyst will thoroughly understand, analyze, and document stakeholder processes and information needs, create technical specs from the business requirements, and work with the development team to ensure successful implementation.
The project supports the actuarial department’s growing data needs and automation of data intake. Responsibilities span all phases of the software development lifecycle, including business analysis, project management, documentation, and coordinating QA testing.
- Provide direct IT support for the Actuarial Business Units
- Coordinate the monthly data provisioning processes with the business and support teams
- Understand the monthly manual tasks/activities for the Actuarial processes
- Perform data analysis on the policy admin systems, databases, Excel sheets, and other data sources
- Conduct meetings/interviews with business users and SMEs to gather high-level business requirements
- Analyze business workflows and create business process diagrams
- Work with the technical team to identify automation opportunities
- Create future-state process diagrams and storyboards and present automation ideas in detail
- Outline data flow through sub-systems and data exports to valuation systems
- Plan project phases, prioritize activities, and build timelines
- Prepare contingency plans, resource assignments, checkpoints, and milestones
- Create detailed project plans and track progress with business users, stakeholders, developers, and testers
- Build credibility, maintain communication with stakeholders
- Create and maintain project documents (Business/Functional Requirement Documents, data mapping sheets, data definition documents)
- Maintain alignment of program scope with strategic objectives and adapt as needed
- Handle ad-hoc data requests for controls, regulatory filings, etc.
- Troubleshoot data process issues
- Create audit checklists based on SOX requirements
- Present periodic dashboard reports on program status and opportunities
- Coordinate QA activities and ensure alignment with business requirements
- Create and assign tasks to teams; assist in test case preparation and execution
- Bridge gap between actuarial business users and system SMEs
- Coordinate with developers on implementation and unit testing
- Participate in internal and external quality audit sessions
- 3+ years of IT experience, preferably in financial services
- Actuarial support experience preferred
- Annuity knowledge preferred
- Familiarity with all phases of the software development life cycle
- Experience documenting requirements for large and complex data processing projects
- Strong attention to detail in work products
- Experience communicating with all levels of management to gather requirements
- Experience in controlled development, testing, and production environments
- Experience with issue tracking/project planning tools (e.g., JIRA)
- Demonstrated teamwork and strong work ethic
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Experience with SQL queries is a plus
- Experience with AXIS, AON or other valuation systems a plus
- Experience with Project Management/Agile/Scrum is a plus
- Experience in Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, PL/SQL, Snowflake or ETL processing is a plus
