Overview
The United States Space Force (USSF) in Los Angeles AFB, El Segundo, CA is searching for a Lead Data Architect to support SYD 85 (NH-1550-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
Description:
The candidate is expected to contribute to strategic planning efforts by identifying how data is processed, protected, persistent, integrated/federated with other data repositories, and disseminated across a wide variety of mission and operational space data. The role supports agency priorities and performance goals, ensuring alignment with the mission of the unit and the broader agency; deliver reports, presentations, and briefings to support leadership decision-making and stakeholder communication.
Organization: The United States Space Force (USSF) is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips military members and civilians to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands (CCMDs).

- Lead data architecture efforts for the Data Federation portfolio, guiding future architecture and design.
- Contribute to strategic planning by identifying data processing, protection, persistence, integration/federation, and dissemination across mission data.
- Support agency priorities and performance goals; deliver reports, presentations, and briefings for leadership decision-making and stakeholder communication.
- STEM degree (BS, MS or PhD); preferably in computer science, data engineering, or systems engineering.
- Experience with Department of War (DoW) and Department of the Air Force (DAF) data governance, data sharing and security protocols.
- Ability to lead future architecture and design for the Data Federation portfolio.
- Knowledge of a wide range of advanced multidisciplinary professional engineering practices such as data science, computer science, research analysis concepts, principles, standards, methods, and techniques to apply experimental theories and new developments to problems.
