As part of the Information Technology team, the Principal Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for designing, engineering, and leading Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. This position ensures that BI solutions developed are robust, scalable, and aligned with the target architecture. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, data analysis, design, and building BI solutions.
Duties- Lead and design BI solutions to accomplish data and reporting architectural goals, focusing on self-serve models.
- Promote and educate the enterprise on Business Intelligence and Reporting best practices.
- Oversee BI solutions developed by the IT organization to ensure alignment with the target architecture.
- Collaborate with business users on reporting solutions.
- Mentor BI developers to ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable.
- Develop and implement BI and reporting standards.
- Evaluate and recommend BI, reporting, and analytics tools.
- Partner with leadership to evolve the BI strategy and roadmap.
- Coordinate resources and timelines with user departments and other IT teams to complete projects.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, reviewing publications, networking, benchmarking, and participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
ExperienceRequired: At least 6 years of experience developing BI solutions for large enterprises, with hands-on experience with BI tools such as OBIEE, BI Publisher, Tableau.
SkillsRequired: Knowledge of Data and Reporting Architecture;
Proficient in Data Modeling, Data Architecture, Data Analysis, Data Profiling, and SQL;
Effective communication skills;
Excellent teamwork skills;
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships;
Deep understanding of BI concepts.
