Product Manager II, Recommendations Platform
We’re looking for a Product Manager II, Recommendations Platform to help the Recs team test, scale, and launch new models and features more efficiently. In this role, you’ll bridge the gap between the Recs ML and Recs Infrastructure teams, making sure the models and systems the ML team builds are deployed smoothly, run reliably, and can scale as Tinder grows.
You’ll partner with the Recs ML PM and Engineering leads to translate model and experimentation needs into clear infra priorities, sequence work across teams, and make sure stakeholders have visibility into timelines, dependencies, and resourcing.
In parallel, you’ll drive improvements to internal tools that make the Recs organization faster and more effective including experimentation systems, Recs Viewer enhancements, debuggability tools, and better dogfooding experiences.
This role is perfect for someone who loves solving technical coordination problems, improving systems, and enabling teams to move faster through clear structure, process, and communication.
This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration three times per week, in Palo Alto CA.
In this role, you will:- Act as the bridge between ML and Infrastructure: Work closely with the Recs ML PM and ML team to understand upcoming model and system requirements. Align with Infrastructure leads on priorities, dependencies, and resource planning. Track progress, manage expectations, and communicate timelines and trade-offs to stakeholders across Recs, Infra, and leadership.
- Drive alignment and visibility: Maintain a clear view of all Recs-related infra initiatives, what’s planned, what’s in flight, and what’s blocked. Create documentation and updates that improve visibility and ensure the right conversations happen early.
- Improve experimentation methodology: Partner with Data Science and Engineering to design testing frameworks that capture impact across both sides of the network, account for ecosystem effects, and provide confident reads on retention and revenue.
- Evolve internal tools and workflows: Partner with Engineering to build and evolve internal tools that make the Recs team faster and more effective. The scope includes systems that identify available testing markets, detect overlapping experiments, monitor live experiments for conflicts or data anomalies, and support debugging and QA.
- Drive enhancements to tools like Recs Viewer or build new utilities that help engineers and data scientists test, validate, and visualize Recs changes more efficiently.
- Enhance reliability and speed of delivery: Identify bottlenecks across model deployment, experimentation, and data pipelines. Work cross-functionally to streamline testing, rollout, and validation workflows to increase overall delivery velocity.
- Establish clear testing guidance: Create playbooks, best practices, and decision frameworks for choosing between methodologies (e.g., user-level, pair market, or holdout testing) depending on feature type and objective.
- 3–5 years of Product Management experience in a platform, experimentation, or data-focused product area.
- Strong understanding of A/B testing principles, including experiment design, statistical power, and interpreting metrics with lagging effects.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with Engineering and Data Science on analytical and technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to bring clarity and alignment across diverse stakeholders.
- A systems mindset, you can untangle complex workflows and create structured, scalable solutions.
- Familiarity with causal inference, holdout testing, or ecosystem-level experimentation.
