Job Description & How to Apply Below

Our client is looking for a Terminologist/Content Designer to join their Games Design Systems team! This is a fully remote, six-month contract that will require 40 hours/week, with the ability to work across time zones.

Responsibilities
  • Establish a cohesive terminology foundation by auditing live and in-progress game interfaces to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and opportunities for clarity and alignment.
  • Design and maintain a centralized terminology system that supports a broader content design framework, enabling teams to ship with confidence and consistency at scale.
  • Set clear naming standards and conventions that balance creative intent, technical constraints, legal considerations, and localization needs.
  • Partner deeply with content designers, product leaders, legal, and localization teams to ensure shared language decisions are thoughtful, defensible, and user-centered.
  • Apply systems thinking to language governance, helping define processes and models - potentially leveraging automation or AI to keep terminology accurate, current, and evolving.
  • Advocate for language as a product asset, influencing teams through insight, collaboration, and clarity rather than authority.
  • Bring a gamer’s mindset to the work, applying an understanding of gaming mechanics, player expectations, and industry terminology (even if your background comes from adjacent product spaces).
Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience with senior-level experience in content design, terminology management, linguistics, or related disciplines, with a clear point of view on naming and standards.
  • A strong content design foundation within product and technology environments, with demonstrated experience shaping language for complex digital systems.
  • Fluency in games culture and terminology, whether through professional experience or deep personal engagement as a player.
  • Proven ability to build and evolve terminology databases, glossaries, or language systems that scale across teams and surfaces.
  • Exceptional systems thinking and editorial judgment, paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong cross‑functional communication skills, with the ability to make nuanced language decisions understandable and actionable.
  • Comfort operating in a contract capacity, delivering impact quickly and independently across time zones.

The pay for this W-2 position ranges from $90-$110 per hour. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
