Job Description & How to Apply Below

Summary

We’re looking for an Analytics Engineer to help us turn our data into one of our strongest products. This role will be the backbone of our AFM Insights initiative — centralizing data across platforms (social, commerce, paid media) into Snowflake and powering analytics for business decisions and brand partnerships.

Who We Are

Almost Friday Media is a rapidly growing digital media company that builds comedy‑forward content brands across social, podcasting, You Tube, and newsletter. We're known for our unique brand voice, fast‑paced culture, and ability to authentically connect with Millennial and Gen Z audiences.

What You’ll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines (ELT/ETL) into Snowflake using tools like dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, or Stitch.
  • Develop data models and transformations (star schema, Kimball/ELT best practices) to enable efficient reporting and analytics.
  • Own and optimize our Snowflake environment — performance tuning, cost management, access/permissions.
  • Create and manage semantic layers to support BI tools like Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Mode, and Hex.
  • Implement data quality & governance frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Monte Carlo) for reliable, trusted data.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with analysts, data scientists, and business leaders to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Support AFM’s branded partnerships by building datasets and dashboards that highlight audience affinities and engagement.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI (background as a data analyst is a plus).
  • Strong SQL expertise (CTEs, window functions, query optimization).
  • Hands‑on with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred; Big Query, Redshift also considered).
  • Familiar with modern ELT/ETL workflows (Fivetran, Airbyte, dbt).
  • Experience with BI integration and semantic layers (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data governance, observability, and quality frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
