Job DescriptionWhen you join Arista as part of the Sales Engineering team, you’re not just stepping into a role; you’re becoming part of a team of industry experts and technical leaders. Typically reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you’ll work alongside some of the most skilled field engineers in the industry, aligning our solutions with the larger goals of our clients.
Who You’ll Work WithIn collaboration with our Product Management and Software Development teams, you will play a pivotal role in steering product developments, offerings, and strategic direction to best serve our customers and prospects. Supported by the expertise of our world‑class Arista TAC, cutting‑edge proof‑of‑concept resources, and executive support, you are well‑positioned to lead and innovate within the industry.
What You’ll Do- Provide pre‑sales technical support for enterprise and commercial clients in the Los Angeles and Orange County regions.
- Act as a trusted advisor, collecting customer requirements and pinpointing opportunities.
- Partner with Account Managers to conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews.
- Present Arista’s Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus (including Wi‑Fi) solutions, Cloud Vision (Network Automation), Security (Network Detection & Response), Endpoint Security, and Real‑time Fabric Monitoring.
- Architect, design, and propose Arista Data Center & Campus network solutions using leaf‑spine architectures (VxLAN, EVPN) and network overlays.
- Perform hands‑on tests to validate proof‑of‑concept setups, designs, and deployments with new products and features.
- Create design guidelines and recommend improvements to customers.
- Respond to RFP/RFQ requests in partnership with the Sales team.
- Provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
- Represent Arista at industry events and conferences.
- Stay up‑to‑date on competitive solutions, products, and services.
- Author white papers on technology and product.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (preferred).
- Network industry certification preferred (e.g., ACE‑L4, ACE‑L6, ACE‑L7).
- 5+ years of L2/L3 networking design and implementation experience, focusing on Data Center and Campus networks.
- Expert‑level knowledge in routing and switching, including L2/L3 protocols.
- Experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre‑Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer.
- Previous experience with network overlays.
- Expert knowledge in at least three of:
Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, EVPN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, QoS. - Expert‑level knowledge of industry‑standard CLI.
- Experience building network automation with Python and Ansible preferred.
- Knowledge of competitive products, solutions, and services.
- Ability to write white papers.
- Local to the area/region.
The base pay range for this role is $125,000 to $170,000. Pay may vary by location and is dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and market. Eligible employees may also receive discretionary bonuses, equity, and a sales incentive plan. U.S. employees receive benefits including medical, dental, vision, well‑being, tax savings, and income protection.
