Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Employee and Labor Relations, you will provide leadership, guidance, interpretation and training to managers and supervisors on UC Policy and contract interpretation. You will serve as senior resource for labor relations and contract interpretation. In this role, you will actively participate in local and system-wide bargaining, including drafting/reviewing/modifying proposals, soliciting feedback from stakeholders and clients on proposed changes;
communicate changes to managers and supervisors and serve as a primary resource in change implementation.
As our Labor Relations Manager, you will coordinate and direct grievance process to ensure compliance with contract provisions and consistency in raising procedural issues, provide guidance and assistance to managers and supervisors regarding interpretation, compliance and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements and HEERA provisions and provide guidance to management on grievance and arbitration procedures; make recommendations regarding the resolution of grievances when appropriate.
You will assist in the readiness for arbitration, including documentation and witness preparation. You will coordinate timely/accurate responses to information requests; organize and lead meetings between managers and employee organizations and assist management during labor activity. You will facilitate on-going communication and working relationships with employee organization representatives and coordinate and facilitate local Labor Management Meetings. You will also routinely liaise with union representatives and endeavor to resolve issues/concerns at the lowest level possible.
