Join a mission-driven public agency that provides water to nearly 19 million Southern Californians! Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant III to support their Benefits team onsite at their Union Station Headquarters.
This role is essential to the daily operations of the Benefits team and includes customer service for employees and retirees, electronic file management, and benefits-related administrative processing. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic, service-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to HR-related inquiries via the Benefits Hotline (phone, voicemail, and email).
- Provide walk-in support for employees and retirees regarding benefits and related programs.
- Manage and maintain e-files (health, PERS, deferred compensation, QDROs, leaves, etc.) via ViaTRON's ECM system.
- Scan and process incoming documents, and handle the distribution of UPS/Fed Ex mail and faxes.
- Support new hire and COBRA administration, open enrollment, bi-weekly billing, and life event changes.
- Assist with CalPERS inquiries and support internal and external audits.
- Prepare correspondence, track data, and maintain records to ensure benefits compliance.
- Coordinate meetings, maintain calendars, make travel arrangements, and prepare expense reports as needed.
- Perform credit card reconciliations and support procurement activities.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience,
- or two (2) years as a Human Resources Assistant II within the organization.
Preferred Experience:
- Administering health and voluntary benefits programs, including COBRA, garnishments, medical credits, and medical vesting elections.
- Supporting new hire onboarding, employee orientations, and maintaining benefits-related documentation such as AESD1 forms and Benefit Staff Kits.
- Performing benefits system updates in My|CalPERS, processing insurance reconciliations, payment wires, and coordinating audits and compliance reviews.
- Providing customer service via a Benefits Hotline and managing e-filing, recordkeeping, and internal communications related to benefits.
