Position: Front Office Manager Hotel Erwin, Venice Beach CA

Overview

Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach, CA is seeking a Front Office Manager who brings operational excellence and genuine hospitality to every shift. This role focuses on creating memorable guest experiences, leading dynamic teams, and elevating service standards.

What you’ll do
  • Manage and lead the front desk/night audit operations to ensure optimal service and hospitality for guests.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a Front Desk team to deliver exceptional service daily.
  • Oversee daily front office operations, ensuring smooth check-ins, check-outs, and guest satisfaction.
  • Prepare department schedules in accordance with labor standards, forecasted occupancy, and business needs.
  • Review and approve department payroll.
  • Be knowledgeable and helpful about the local area, the hotel, and hotel services.
  • Be an enthusiastic, helpful, and positive member of the team; maintain professional conduct.
  • Partner with Housekeeping, Sales, and other departments to create a seamless guest journey.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and efficiently with professionalism, empathy, and creativity.
  • Participate in recruitment for the department by attracting, hiring, retaining, and motivating employees.
  • Interview, hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, and communicate openly; discipline and terminate as appropriate.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with each department and respond to new ideas and developmental feedback.
  • Be available to help other departments in emergency situations; adhere to company policies and the associate handbook.
  • Properly handle and account for keys; perform other assignments as directed by the General Manager.
  • Lead the Health and Safety Committee and ensure awareness of emergency procedures and security concerns; promote an accident prevention program.
  • Be available to cover vacation days and time-off requests; identify and record special billing instructions.

  • Proven experience as a Front Office Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or similar role in a full-service hotel environment.
  • Strong leadership with a hands-on, service-first approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Tech-savvy with hotel systems;
    Opera Cloud experience is a plus.

Qualifications and requirements
  • High School diploma / secondary qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with Opera Cloud is a plus.
This job requires the ability to perform the following
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational and computer skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, facilities, and the city’s attractions.
  • Most tasks are indoors with controlled temperature; stand and move for extended periods as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally; occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and ability to operate computer equipment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
