Job requisition

Responsibilities
  • Perform exams proficiently according to established procedures and techniques with minimal errors/poor technical quality that would affect results of interpretation.
  • Perform quality control, preventive maintenance, and calibration procedures according to policy.
  • Assist in cross-training of staff and/or students.
  • Assist patients and physicians during and following procedures.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in examinations preparation and results.
  • Prepare documents and reports for physicians interpretation.
  • Order, store and maintain adequate supplies in department.
  • Practice correct sterile, aseptic, decontamination and biohazardous waste disposal techniques.
  • Report unusual incidents appropriately and immediately.
  • Explain plan of care, procedure and purpose to patient/family and answer routine questions.
  • Provide necessary patient information on procedure reports (e.g., name, medical record number, surgical history, diagnosis symptoms).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, signs and symptoms, CPR, and medical terminology.
  • Maintain equipment in good operating condition and report malfunctions or need for repairs.
  • Coordinate procedures with nursing and ancillary services within the department and with physicians and patients.
  • Assist with patient transportation when required and provide patient comfort during procedures.
  • Instruct patients regarding requirements prior to procedures and precautionary measures during procedures.
  • Obtain appropriate equipment and set up for procedures according to procedure.
  • Complete all ordered procedures during shift without sacrificing quality of work.
  • Prepare files, locate and retrieve patient procedures accurately.
  • Prepare patient charges and input data for fees and statistics.
  • Have a general understanding of all office functions.
  • Create a courteous, polite and pleasant atmosphere with patients, physicians and hospital staff.
  • Answer phone and identify department and self.
  • Provide correct procedure for correct patient by checking requisition (prescription) and patient .
  • Assist in updating policies and procedures as requested and adhere to written hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency to perform specific duties and responsibilities, including use of equipment and performance of technical skills.
  • Interview patients regarding signs/symptoms pertinent to procedure.
  • Supervise and deliver safe patient care with attention to infection control, patient safety, equipment handling and proper body mechanics.
  • Seek to enhance clinical knowledge pertinent to area of expertise and participate in self-evaluation.
  • Participate in quality management activities as required and seek experience to enhance clinical knowledge of adult and geriatric patients.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent
  • Specialized/technical training;
    Graduate of an AMA approved 2 year Radiologic Technology Program
  • 1 year experience as a mammography technologist
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed:
    Certified Mammographic Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
  • Mammography (ARRT)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) – if no card upon hire, obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain renewal; applies in LA City only
Licenses/Certifications
  • Certified Mammographic Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
  • Mammography (ARRT)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association
