Job Description

This role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers east of downtown LA, Covina, Arcadia, Glendale, Pasadena, and the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, effectively manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and solve customer needs to maximize short and long-term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within Abb Vie s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed set objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and implement post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Handle objections and concerns to close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease states, products, clinical and sales knowledge, and share market intelligence with in-field teams to align and optimize brand strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie s value proposition with health providers, identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent industry experience.
  • In lieu of a bachelor s degree, at least five (5) years of industry experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry is preferred and a high school diploma/GED is required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders. Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools; possesses strategic and critical thinking capabilities. Works effectively in a matrix environment and offers innovative ideas to maximize business opportunities.
  • Proven track record of success in selling and strong presentation skills. Identifies customer style/behavior and adapts selling approaches accordingly. Provides impact with ideas for the organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is a credible, respected resource among peers. Builds collaborative partnerships and leads by example in changing environments.
  • Documented success in leadership and increased responsibility at district, region, or organizational levels. Uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred:
    Proven track record in sales performance within therapeutic areas. Experience in commercial pharmaceutical activities (physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing) preferred. English proficiency (verbal and written) for all non-English speaking countries.
  • Essential:
    Satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory. Must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
