Position SummaryThe Medical Staff Coordinator manages medical staff departments, committees, and credentialing activities, ensuring compliance with bylaws, regulations, and accreditation standards. The role interfaces with hospital staff, physicians, and allied health professionals to provide data, support committee agendas, and maintain credentialing databases.
Key Responsibilities- Enhance professional growth through educational programs, meetings, workshops, and certification maintenance.
- Facilitate assigned medical staff meetings and coordinate agendas, minutes, and follow‑up actions.
- Consult with medical staff leaders and hospital staff to secure action‑oriented outcomes.
- Document discussions, recommendations, and conclusions accurately to support decisions.
- Maintain confidential medical staff records in compliance with CA Business Evidence Code and bylaws.
- Integrate peer review findings into agendas and minutes with quality management coordinators.
- Coordinate credentialing and privileging activities, including applications, reappointments, proctoring, and temporary privileges.
- Analyze information to identify quality‑of‑care issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Report concerns to the Director of Medical Staff Services and assist with investigations.
- Manage meeting rosters, distribute notices, and maintain calendars.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
- Operate within emergency response procedures and demonstrate equipment knowledge.
- Maintain a professional image and positive attitude in all interactions.
- Adapt to changing assignments and staffing levels while meeting expectations.
- Assume additional duties as required.
- Adhere to dress code and keep appearance neat.
- Complete education requirements timely.
- Maintain regulatory, licensure, and certification requirements.
- Identify with the facility’s mission, vision, and values.
- Exhibit positive attitude and willingness to adapt.
- Respect confidentiality at all times.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred EducationBachelor's Degree preferred.
Required Experience & Qualifications- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Proficiency with word processing and medical staff databases.
- Current Los Angeles County Fire Card (required within 30 days of employment).
Proven experience in health care education and medical staff services preferred.
Work ScheduleShift: Day (8:00 am – 4:30 pm), 8 hours per day; 40 hours per week;
Full‑time; FTE 1.0.
