A leading healthcare staffing company is seeking a Part-Time Patient Registrar to facilitate patient access to care at PIH Health facilities. This role involves efficient and accurate registration, pre-registration, and financial liability calculation for outpatient and inpatient accounts, ensuring excellent patient, physician, and hospital satisfaction.
Training Schedule: Flexibility required; no time off during the first two weeks of training.
Employment Type: Contract
- Perform comprehensive patient registration and pre-registration, including collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information.
- Accurately enter patient data into the EHR/registration system and calculate/secure patient financial liability (copays, deductibles).
- Coordinate with insurance companies for eligibility, coverage, and authorizations.
- Inform patients about payment policies and financial assistance options.
- Collaborate with medical staff, manage patient flow, and ensure proper documentation and consent forms are completed.
- Handle medical records, ensuring accuracy and availability, and update patient information as needed.
- Provide compassionate customer service, address patient inquiries, and resolve billing or administrative concerns.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and all healthcare regulations and policies.
Required Qualifications & Skills (Condensed):
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office with strong computer and customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and mathematical abilities.
- Strong computer proficiency (Word, Excel, multiple screens) and quick learning capability.
- Required knowledge of insurance.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strict adherence to HIPAA laws.
- Strong typing skills (45+ WPM).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to travel to off-site outpatient locations.
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish or Chinese - Mandarin) preferred.
