About the RoleThe Medical Assistant Lead at 6th Street Health Center plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services within the adult care setting. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of medical assistants, ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with healthcare regulations. The lead acts as a liaison between clinical staff and management, facilitating communication and workflow efficiency.
They provide mentorship, training, and support to team members to enhance their clinical skills and professional development. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant Lead contributes to delivering exceptional patient experiences and supports the overall mission of the health center to provide quality adult healthcare services.

- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
- Basic knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical terminology.
- Associate degree in Health Sciences or related field.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar clinical setting.
- Advanced certification such as Phlebotomy or EKG technician credentials.
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes and patient safety protocols.
- Strong background in patient education and health promotion.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of medical assistants to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Assist with patient intake, including recording medical histories, vital signs, and preparing patients for examination.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to medical assistant staff to promote professional growth.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to optimize patient flow and care delivery.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper maintenance of clinical equipment.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in staff meetings to address operational challenges.
The Medical Assistant Lead utilizes strong clinical skills daily to assist with patient care activities such as taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations. Leadership and communication skills are essential for supervising staff, providing training, and facilitating effective teamwork.
