Bio Phase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for Southern California's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a US Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management System Manager for a manufacturing company in the Los Angeles area.

Salary: $90k-110k per year

Base pay range

$90,000.00/yr - $/yr

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the US Head of EHS in setting up and monitoring the sites’ Environmental Health and Safety policy. Advise and enable site management in relation to Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental protection to ensure that legal and corporate EHS requirements are met or exceeded. Work with sites’ management to define and achieve EHS and business goals.
  • Manages the general organization of the environmental health and safety of the site in agreement with the US Head of EHS.
  • Monitors Environmental, Health & Safety actions, sets priorities and coordinates regular follow-up meetings.
  • Proposals for required Environmental, Health & Safety-related investments.
  • Provides regulatory and technological monitoring for Environmental, Health & Safety.
  • Maintains the Environmental Health & Safety part of the internal regulations.
  • Ensures the drafting and follow-up of health & safety documents.
  • In charge of environmental health & safety training and awareness program:
  • Defined and deploys the health & safety training and awareness program for all functions or tasks represented on Sites.
  • Establish and maintain an EHS management system for environmental, health & safety programs, documentation and reporting environmental, health & safety related site KPI’s.
  • Management and organization of environmental, health & safety training modules.
  • Responsible for internal and external health & safety audits, response to customer EHS questionnaires intervenes during customer visits on EHS.
  • Assists the US Head of EHS to ensure staff safety:
  • Tracking internal, external, client audits and accidents; incidents:
  • Coordination and monitoring of investigations and analyses (root cause & corrective action).
  • Coordination and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and communicate feedback from audits, meetings and investigations.
  • Keep a close eye on EHS best practices on the site:
  • Establish a safety culture of safe working practices for both employees and contracting staff on site.
  • Regular visits to work areas, ensures that the rules in force are understood and respected. Security meeting moderator.
  • Coordination and implementation of internal/external EHS- audits.
  • Ensures the compliance of the facilities and informs workers about the risks associated with new equipment via the single document in collaboration with managers.
  • Offers improvements to the workstations, ergonomics and EHS risks.
  • Tracking unusual, critical or abnormal operations:
  • Conduct investigations into accidents to determine causes and prevent re-occurrence. Conduct regular internal and external (where necessary) audits to ensure compliance – provide management systems to monitor performance and ensure corrective actions are in place in a timely manner.
  • EHS risk assessment on change control.
  • Performs risk analyses on unusual, critical or abnormal operation.
  • Securing and monitoring unusual, critical or abnormal operations.
  • Analysis of workstations.
  • Track corrective actions necessary from internal/external and client audit findings with CAPA system.
  • Organization & team management:
  • Deployment of planning in departments.
  • Hiring management and/or consultants.
  • Maintain familiarity with relevant EHS legislation, assess and contribute to relevant consultative documents. Ensure necessary permits and licenses to operate obtained are in compliance to achieve business goals.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a EHS Professional in a technical process environment preferably in the Pharmaceutical/chemical field.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading the implementation and development of EHS programs.
  • Demonstrate experience with California EHS regulations.
  • Experience with EHS management system such as ISO
    14001 & ISO 45001.
  • Collaborative approach to resolving issues with other departments.
  • Track record of implementation of safety policy across company / sites.
  • Ability to intuitively 'read' situations analyze problems effectively and react appropriately when dealing with a broad range of risk scenarios.
  • Strong influencing skills with an ability to lead the development of EHS programs across sites.
