Medical Science Liaison Stroke/Thrombosis (Los Angeles, California)

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a trusted scientific expert and partner representing Bayer in the medical community through the dissemination of and education on scientific data related to Bayer products across the product lifecycle. The MSL establishes proactive long‑term scientific/strategic relationships with key healthcare providers, stakeholders, and major medical associations. They provide technical and scientific support to ensure safe and effective use of Bayer products, including timely adverse event reporting and responses to unsolicited informational requests.

The MSL also develops a deep understanding of national, regional, and local experts in the therapeutic area and collaborates with internal and external contacts to address specific scientific and educational needs.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities Scientific Expertise
  • Complete core training curriculum and basic MSL and Therapeutic Area (TA) Certification.
  • Demonstrate accountability to continuous learning and growth, completing recertification where applicable.
  • Maintain professional licensure with CEU documentation where required.
  • Exhibit depth of knowledge within the therapeutic area, exceeding peers or multiple Medical Affairs experiences.
  • Coordinate and lead TA updates, team discussions, training initiatives (e.g., journal clubs).
  • Attend and report on local, regional, and national medical conferences.
  • Coordinate coverage of major meetings, including program evaluation and high‑quality meeting reports.
  • Identify educational gaps and recommend resource or initiative development.
External HCP and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Estterm relationships with Thought Leaders and stakeholders through education on up‑to‑date scientific information.
  • Engage proactively with TLs, H research sites, associations, societies, and other stakeholders according to defined scope and engagement plans.
  • Leverage knowledge of global strategies to develop local Area Business Unit strategy.
  • Translate the local medical plan into actionable TL and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Support speaker training and evaluate medical scientific merit.
  • Coordinate advisory board participation and support internal stakeholder engagement.
Education and Communication
  • Deliver educational presentations to external audiences and stakeholder groups.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and balanced responses to medical inquiries in collaboration with Medical Communications.
  • Adhere to SOPs and FDA guidance for distribution of scientific information.
  • Prepare and present data to internal audiences including MA and Commercial partners.
Research and Clinical Support
  • Support investigator‑initiated research (IIR) and site identification.
  • Assist clinical trial teams and engage stakeholders for Bayer‑sponsored trials, including feasibility and study support.
Insights and Analysis
  • Generate and communicate HCP and stakeholder insights to inform strategy.
  • Report new compound development information and potential collaborations in line with corporate strategy.
Collaboration and Team Leadership
  • Build active strategic partnerships with cross‑functional stakeholders (e.g., Area General Manager, Field DGOS).
  • Present to internal audiences and lead project teams or task forces as appropriate.
  • Act as an MSL mentor when required.
New Ways of Working
  • Champion new platforms, systems, and capabilities, training and empowering the Field Medical team.
