Adaptive Skills Training Specialist (Instructional Aide/Senior Instructional Aide) – 18‑35 hours/week – Career Advancing!
RequirementsMust be available Monday‑Friday 3:30 pm‑8:30 pm, Saturday 9 am‑6 pm, with additional hours available.
- BA or BS in education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable human services degree.
- Driver’s license, reliable car, and proof of insurance.
Must pass (Once Hired)
- TB test clearance.
- Criminal background check (via the Live Scan Process).
K & L C.A.R.E., Inc. has led the Adaptive Skills Training field in the San Fernando Valley for 15 years since 2009, and is committed to building skills for young and older persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Our clients reside in the San Fernando Valley, located in Northern Los Angeles County.

Instructional Aides (Adaptive Skills Training Specialists) work one on one with clients (ages 5 to adulthood) in their home and community to assist them with mastering independent living skills.
- Position is part time. Additional hours are available based on availability.
- We only promote from within. Promotions available to Senior Instructional Aide and full‑time Case Supervisor.
- We conduct thorough training specific to this field of work.
- Behavioral Specialists, Autism Technicians, BIIs (Behavior Intervention Implementation), RBTs, or Special Education Teacher Assistants would excel in this position.
- Drive to client homes as assigned and scheduled for one‑on‑one sessions in the home or community.
- Conduct sessions focused on goal acquisition (e.g., learning to vacuum, ride the bus, open a checking account, or complete job applications).
- Collect data to record progress on goal acquisition.
- Communicate with case supervisors and the administrative team via email, phone or text according to company policy.
- Up to $33 per hour to start, depending on education and experience.
- Promotion opportunity to Senior Instructional Aide – up to $36 per hour.
- Paid mileage (.67 cents per mile).
- Paid drive time ($17.27 per hour) between clients.

- Bilingual.
- MS or MA degree (or degree in progress) in a relevant field such as education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable human services degree.
