Environmental Services Worker - EVS - Full Time 8 Hour Evenings (Non-Exempt) (Union)
Keck Medicine of USC – Join the Environmental Services team as a full‑time, union‑protected EVS worker responsible for maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
OverviewAs an EVS worker, you will perform systematic cleaning procedures in patient, surgical, office, and public areas, manage waste, and support infection control standards.
Responsibilities- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety standards set by the department.
- Comply with patient room cleaning policies and properly dispose of waste (trash, empty container, packing boxes, biohazard, medical waste, HIPAA information, pharmaceuticals, batteries).
- Practice infection control standards and requirements.
- Scrub, refine, burnish, and clean carpets and chairs in public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas.
- Dust, mop, and clean surfaces in all facility areas.
- Perform high‑ and low‑dusting on vertical and horizontal surfaces following departmental procedures.
- Observe and report items and equipment needing repair to appropriate personnel.
- Clean and disinfect all fixtures in public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas.
- Clean, disinfect, and replenish supplies in restrooms in both public and patient areas.
- Remove and replace sharps containers, pharmaceutical, and biohazardous containers according to hospital policy.
- Document performed tasks.
- Demonstrate behavior supporting the USC University Hospital mission.
- Attend required orientation and training seminars.
- Show respect and positive interpersonal skills with patients, clients, the public, managers, co‑workers—a team player.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- 6‑12 months customer service experience in a team‑oriented, high‑volume, fast‑paced, guest‑centric environment OR 6‑12 months healthcare housekeeping, hotel, or hospitality experience.
- Basic English reading and writing skills.
- Excellent customer service behavior.
- Ability to function independently and as a member of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 – $33.15.
