Direct Support Professional, Community Integration Program

Join the Build Ability Team as a Direct Support Professional. Are you someone who finds joy in assisting others in reaching their goals? Do you prefer being out in the community rather than confined to a desk? We are looking for Direct Support Professionals to lend support to participants in our Community Integration Program.

• This is a 100% community‑based day program serving adults with developmental disabilities. The program focuses on pre‑vocational skills, safe use of public transportation, social skills practice, and exploration of individual interests.

• Meet participants at a community hub each morning and facilitate the scheduled activities for the day, including use of public transportation.
• Provide opportunities for participants to develop socialization/interpersonal communication skills and practice self‑regulation/coping techniques.
• Provide hands‑on training, observation, and evaluation of participants’ pre‑vocational skills, and find educational opportunities or classes to assist with further development.
• Advocate for participants’ inclusion in the community and empower them to exercise their rights.
• Use Build Ability’s digital program to log individual progress and performance.

• Part‑time (27 hours per week)
• Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, employers, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background clearance.
• Valid California driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.

• Fluent in Spanish.
• Cultural awareness and adaptability.
• Familiarity with the Los Angeles Metro system (Metro Go app, route planning, etc.).
• Knowledge of HCBS Final rule guidelines.
• Crisis management skills.
• Prior experience supporting individuals with disabilities (on‑the‑job training will be provided).
