Environmental Services Worker - EVS - Per Diem 8 Hour Nights (Non-Exempt) (Union) at Keck Medicine of USC

Maintains a clean, attractive, and safe hospital environment for patients, staff, and visitors through systematic application of cleaning procedures.

• Maintain established orderliness, cleaning, and safety standards set by the department.
• Comply with proper patient room cleaning policies.
• Properly dispose of Trash.
• Properly dispose of Empty Container.
• Properly dispose of Packing Boxes.
• Properly dispose of Biohazard / Medical Waste.
• Properly dispose of HIPAA Information.
• Properly dispose of Pharmaceutical waste.
• Properly dispose of Batteries.
• Properly dispose of any other hospital-generated waste.
• Practice infection control standards and requirements.
• Scrub, refinish, burnish, and clean carpets/chairs in public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas of the facility.
• Dust, mop, and clean public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas of the facility.
• Complete high and low dusting on vertical and horizontal surfaces following departmental procedures.
• Observe and report items and equipment in need of repair to appropriate person.
• Clean and disinfect all fixtures in public, ancillary, patient, surgical, and office areas of the facility.
• Clean, disinfect, and replenish supplies in restrooms in both public and patient areas according to department policy.
• Remove and replace sharps containers, pharmaceutical, and biohazardous containers according to hospital policy.
• Document performed tasks.
• Demonstrate behavior that supports the USC University Hospital mission.
• Attend required orientation and training seminars.
• Demonstrate respect and positive interpersonal skills with patients, clients, the public, managers, and co‑workers – a team player.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

• 6 to 12 months of customer service experience in a team‑oriented, high‑volume, fast‑paced, guest‑centric environment or 6 to 12 months of healthcare housekeeping, hotel, or hospitality experience.
• Ability to read and write basic English.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
• Able to function independently and as a member of a team.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

Hourly rate range: $21.00 – $28.92.
