ScheduleDay Shift: Fridays, Saturdays, and alternating Thursdays.
Position SummaryThe Clinical Lab Scientist II performs a range of standard and technically demanding procedures in one or more Clinical Laboratory disciplines, exercising initiative and independent judgment. The role includes communicating technical or general information to managers, directors, and medical staff, providing instruction in basic theory, technical skills, and applications of laboratory test procedures, and serving as a technical resource for technicians.
Key responsibilities include working up all bacteriology cultures, performing PCR and STAT testing (Gram stain, positive blood cultures, urinalysis, etc.), and conducting quality control with proper documentation. The CLS II is a licensed staff member performing duties approved by California Business and Professions Code, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies.
• 2 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience, with at least 1 year in the area of specialty required.
• ASCP Board of Registry certification as Medical Technologist, or other specialty preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree meeting California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Laboratory Field Services academic requirements.
- Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License required.
- Acceptable limited California license in a specialty area, such as:
- Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License
