Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Lead Sleep Technologist provides technical supervision for both nighttime and daytime technologists, ensuring high-quality standards across all sleep studies. The role involves performing, recording, and scoring sleep studies in real-time following AASM guidelines.

Responsibilities include supporting quality assurance initiatives, training and mentoring sleep technologists, collaborating with the Sleep Center Medical Director for timely scoring and reporting, and maintaining patient safety during testing.

Additional duties include:

  • Ensuring proper functioning and calibration of all sleep lab equipment
  • Designing and updating protocols for specialized studies
  • Backing up all patient polysomnographic data
  • Providing technical support for new procedures and protocols
  • Assisting with daily lab operations and workflow coordination
  • Collaborating on quality improvement efforts
  • Coordinating with management and staff to ensure efficient operations

This leadership role combines clinical expertise with operational oversight to support excellence in sleep medicine services.

Job Qualifications
  • CPR/BLS Certification required
  • License from the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist or Respiratory Care Board of California Respiratory Care Practitioner (or eligible)
  • Experience with basic computer skills
  • Experience with sleep recording instrumentation and scoring techniques
  • Experience working with clinical research populations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and/or days
  • Certifications such as RPSGT, NBRC, CPFT, RPFT, CRT-SDS, RRT-SDS, or RST are required
  • Experience in Polysomnography and training others in sleep procedures
  • Willingness to work at the Westwood location as needed
