Overview

Mission Community Hospital, a 145-bed acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is currently searching for a full-time, Day Shift CNA to join the Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit.

The CNA assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), provides basic nursing care, performs services requiring technical and manual skills on individual patient needs within the CNA scope of practice, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or nursing unit. This position will primarily work with an acutely ill adult through geriatric patient population, applying understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Specific responsibilities include baths, toileting, nutritional support/assistance, rounding, monitoring vital signs and pain, ambulating/transferring, assisting with procedures, and observing/reporting patient behaviors. The CNA ensures the rights of the patient/family are respected, demonstrates safe and competent use of equipment, and participates in quality/process improvement as assigned in the acute care setting.

Exhibit a Sense of Urgency, appropriate to the situation, while communicating with Physicians/Director/Manager/Clinical Supervisors/Resource Nurse/Charge/Triage Nurse/House Supervisor/Co-Workers about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Additionally, the CNA is able to perform duties in the assigned department with a Can Do Attitude, and contributes to process improvement efforts as part of the department’s activities.

• Minimum of 1 year certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Tech (PCT) experience in acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, sub-acute facility, long term acute care hospital, acute rehabilitation facility, or convalescent facility.
• Good communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Current CNA certification
• Able to perform simple arithmetic calculations
• Understand and use medical terminology
• BLS
• FIRE Card
• MAB or PART/CPI Training - obtain within 30 days of hire
