Overview
Nemours Children's Health is seeking an MRI Technologist (Casual/PRN), to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.
The opportunity involves performing Magnetic Resonance studies while delivering quality health care services that include total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Strong communication skills are essential due to ongoing interaction with the public and professional/medical personnel.
Participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement is expected, including identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing actions aligned with the goals of Nemours.
Responsibilities- Operate MRI equipment on Siemens and GE MR scanners and Advantage Windows workstation.
- Perform routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols and patient examinations as directed by the designated radiologist; verify image quality before submission to radiologists.
- Provide accurate room preparation and instructions to patients/families; explain the imaging procedure and answer procedural questions; physically prepare the patient for examination.
- Prepare, administer, and document contrast media per departmental protocols under the direct supervision of a radiologist/physician. Monitor for allergic reactions after contrast administration. Start IVs and inject contrast material for imaging studies.
- Screen patients for contraindications to imaging that may be hazardous to health or safety.
- Maintain work habits in line with hospital and departmental policies; report unsafe conditions and incidents to the supervisor; operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry, order entry, and study completion.
- Provide care tailored to the appropriate chronological age, developmental age, or social maturity of the patient.
- Collaborate effectively with others; assist in training new personnel, students, and physicians.
- Maintain regular attendance; be available for staffing during severe weather, emergencies, and other natural disasters. Ability to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, and be available on an on-call basis.
- Trade school or college-based training required (e.g., hospital-based program, Associate or Bachelor degree, or completion of an accredited MRI program).
- Must be registered as an MR Technologist with ARRT, ARMIT, or CAMRT; or must be ARRT registered and obtain MRI board certification within 18 months of hire.
- Must hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in an allied health field and be certified through ARDMS or NMTCB, with MRI board certification required within 18 months of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited MRI program with a minimum of 6 months of supervised clinical MRI scanning experience; registry-eligible through ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB and MRI board certification within 90 days of hire.
- Minimum of six (6) months experience in MRI.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- State of Delaware Radiation License required within 90 days of hire for individuals holding NMTCB licensure only.
- Pediatric MRI experience preferred.
