LONI’s unique multidisciplinary environment and cutting edge resources allow for integration of clinical, psychological and genotypic information with neuroimaging phenotypes for research questions in neurology, psychiatry and developmental neurobiology.

The Center for Image Acquisition (CIA) houses two of the most advanced MRI scanners in the world. As a part of the USC Stevens Neuroimaging & Informatics Institute, these scanners enable cutting-edge levels of spatial and temporal resolution in images of the living human brain. Powered by the institute's ideas, accumulating scientific knowledge, and world-leading expertise, this center is positioned at the forefront of innovative MR image acquisition for the living brain in health and disease.

The Center for Image Acquisition is in search of a qualified  part-time MRI technician. The CIA interacts and collaborates with many departments at the Health Sciences Campus and the University Park Campus conducting research in methodology and its application in the study of normal, neurological and psychiatric cohorts. The institute is housed in a newly built facility specifically designed for the new Siemens 3T Prisma and Siemens 7T Terra MRI scanners, and is attached to the main building that houses the Institute’s formidable data center.

* Job Duties:

** The part-time MRI technologist performs basic and complex MR imaging procedures and may be assigned post-processing responsibilities. The MRI technologist  must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology. The candidate must maintain a high degree of accuracy in participant positioning and image acquisition/formation. He/she must maintain knowledge about magnetic field safety and properly screen all participants and visitors prior to admittance into the MR magnet room.

The technologists prepares and administers paramagnetic contrast media in accordance with department, hospital, policy and state and federal regulations, maintains accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed; ensure accurate processing of radiology orders and exercises strict confidentiality. The Technologist is also required to operate various post processing/3D workstations. The ideal candidate understands technical terminology and can translate that for the lay person.  

S/He will also maintain relationships with vendors, campus contacts, faculty and staff.
** Job Qualifications
** The MRI technologist must maintain current State of California unlimited certification in Radiology, registered with A.R.R.T. & BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association and Fire and Safety Certification. Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology, with the ability to distinguish between types of medical procedures and diagnoses. Knowledge of cross-platform computers, application and peripherals, as well as general office equipment.

The hourly rate range for this position is $36.35 - $57.56 .
