Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Tax Preparer to join our team in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will assist with the accurate and timely preparation of individual, business, trust, and local tax returns. You will guide clients through complex tax situations, identify deductions to maximize returns, and ensure strict compliance with all tax codes.
Job DutiesTax Preparation & Compliance
- Income Tax: Prepare accurate individual (Form 1040), trust (1041), and small business (Forms 1065, 1120, 1120S) tax returns using Lacerte software.
- Review: Gather and organize client documentation; review financial records and income statements to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Sales & Payroll Tax: Prepare and file sales and use tax returns with the CDTFA; remit timely quarterly/monthly prepayments. File quarterly and annual payroll tax returns and calculate required tax deposits.
- Business Licensing: Facilitate new company formations, ensure ongoing Secretary of State compliance, and file annual City of LA business license renewals.
Client Communication & Representation
- Provide basic tax planning and advice to minimize future liabilities.
- Manage client inquiries via email and phone with a professional, helpful tone.
- Act as Power of Attorney to contact the IRS/State authorities to resolve issues, obtain transcripts, and respond to notices.
- Perform monthly/quarterly bookkeeping in Quick Books and Quicken.
- Handle data entry, bank reconciliations, and general ledger reviews to produce accurate financial statements for tax compliance.
- Manage client inquiries via email and phone with a professional, helpful tone.
- Act as Power of Attorney to contact the IRS/State authorities to resolve issues, obtain transcripts, and respond to notices.
- Licensure: Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA is required.
- Experience: 5+ years of professional tax preparation experience.
- Software Proficiency: Mastery of Lacerte, Quick Books, Quicken, and Microsoft Excel.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; exceptional time management; and a high degree of accuracy in data analysis.
- This is a long-term, year-round position.
- Rate is commensurate with experience.
- Seasonal Balance: Must be able to work extended hours during peak tax seasons. In exchange, we offer a flexible schedule and generous time off during slower periods.

Pay: $34.00 - $55.00 per hour
