After-School All-Stars is currently seeking a Finance Manager to join the National Finance team and support the efficient, accurate, and compliant financial operations of a multi-state nonprofit organization. Based at ASAS Headquarters in Los Angeles, the Finance Manager will play a key role in finance, accounting, and grant management, working closely with Chapter teams, Development, and internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented nonprofit finance professional with strong grant accounting experience who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Position Description
Full-time position in the Finance team supporting multiple chapters with emphasis on grant accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit grant reimbursement invoices in accordance with government and private funder requirements.
  • Collaborate with Chapter and Development teams on grant budgets and proposals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll allocations across federal, state, and local grants.
  • Manage accounts receivable through internal systems and Raiser’s Edge, including revenue reconciliation and billing tracking.
  • Record financial entries in Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge to support grant compliance.
  • Participate in monthly finance review meetings with assigned Chapters, reporting on grant spending and financial performance.
  • Generate accurate and timely invoices for program and grant billings and apply incoming payments to appropriate accounts.
  • Work closely with Development and Chapter staff to identify and resolve grant compliance and financial concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate grant documentation is prepared and maintained to support audits and reporting.
  • Monitor daily bank transactions and record deposits and transfers in the general ledger.
  • Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned finance portfolio.
  • Support management of Net Assets schedules throughout the year.
Additional Duties
  • Follow up with external agencies, vendors, and Chapters regarding outstanding invoices and financial matters.
  • Use critical thinking skills to identify gaps in financial reporting and collaborate with the Controller to address them proactively.
  • Support and collaborate with other members of the Finance team on special projects as needed.
  • Perform administrative and operational duties in support of department objectives.
Requirements Applicant Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, business, or a related field required.
  • At least five (5) years of progressive nonprofit finance and accounting experience.
  • Strong experience with reimbursable grants, grant billing, and compliance requirements.
  • Solid understanding of nonprofit accounting, revenue recognition, cost allocations, and audit requirements.
  • Experience with accounting and CRM systems such as Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage complex financial data and reporting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of internal controls and financial compliance best practices.
  • Experience managing accounts receivable, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments including Development, Programs, and Human Resources.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
