Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage external service providers to ensure timely and accurate sales/use and indirect tax compliance.
  • Lead sales tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Collaborate with external partners on the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income and franchise taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations while identifying opportunities for tax savings and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to evaluate the impact of new tax legislation on the organization.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies that align with business objectives, enhancing overall financial performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on tax policies and procedures, fostering a culture of compliance and awareness.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in corporate tax, preferably within the retail or e-commerce sector.
  • Proven experience managing sales tax audits and resolving issues with state agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with tax research tools, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Net Suite), and sales tax software; familiarity with Avalara is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with reporting and data tools such as Looker, Power Query, and SQL.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
