Job Description & How to Apply Below
Join a high-performing Special Situations group within a leading global real estate investment firm. This team is responsible for the active management and resolution of complex, high-LTV, and distressed debt investments across all major commercial property types.
As an Analyst or Associate, you will support a lean team of Vice Presidents in navigating the complexities of defaulted or impaired loans. You will be at the epicenter of the workout process, combining rigorous technical underwriting with high-stakes transaction management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform deep-dive credit and real estate analysis; model complex cash flows and recovery scenarios using Excel and Argus.
- Monitor a portfolio of distressed or near-default positions, managing communication with third-party servicers and stakeholders.
- Assist in the execution of restructuring strategies, including foreclosure, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and loan modifications.
- Work closely with internal deal teams and outside counsel to review loan documents, intercreditor agreements, and restructuring term sheets.
- Prepare high-quality investment committee memos, quarterly client reports, and executive-level PowerPoint presentations.
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of experience in real estate debt, distressed credit, or investment banking. (Specific experience in Real Estate Debt Modeling is required).
- Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency in Argus Enterprise.
- Exceptional writing skills (memos) and the ability to present complex data clearly to VPs and senior management.
- Strong understanding of LTV ratios, debt yields, and the legal mechanics of commercial real estate defaults.
- A "self-starter" mentality. You must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
