Job Description

Tax Director, Transfer Pricing – instrumental in supporting Principals and the broader national TP practice through significant contributions to team development, commercial goals, and expansion of specialty practices such as GVC, Intercompany Finance, and M&A. Responsible for driving practice goals with partnership to Principals and Managing Directors, demonstrating high standards of team development, client‑centricity, project management, and technical thought leadership. Capable of managing and growing own client portfolio with minimal oversight.

Job Summary

The Tax Director, Transfer Pricing will lead the Tier 1 transfer pricing practice, managing a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering technical excellence, and driving commercial results while fostering a collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transfer Pricing Consulting and Compliance Services
    • Develop, recommend, and implement appropriate transfer pricing methods and client‑specific solutions.
    • Apply transfer pricing regulations and identify transaction‑specific issues.
    • Determine and propose efficient strategies to achieve compliance within client risk profiles.
    • Manage the holistic transfer pricing ecosystem (planning, compliance, operational, defense) across relationships.
  • Client Engagement
    • Ensure clients comply with local transfer pricing requirements in context of overall operations.
    • Manage team and engagement economics to achieve projected metrics, including setup and billing.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor quality‑control and risk‑management processes on all engagements.
  • Tax Controversy
    • Advise and represent clients on contested issues with tax authorities, responding to information requests and notices.
    • Analyze tax ramifications of transfer pricing policies, document positions, and defend them.
  • Tax Provisions
    • Apply general tax accounting principles related to transfer pricing in tax provisions.
    • Prepare and review tax provisions related to transfer pricing.
    • Partner with Assurance professionals on tax accrual reviews.
  • Research and Analytics
    • Perform financial and economic analysis of intercompany transactions, assessing appropriate pricing policies.
    • Identify research depth and breadth, frame issues, and conduct tax‑research comparability.
    • Business Development
      • Build and maintain relationships with internal and client personnel to identify new business opportunities.
      • Represent the firm as primary contact for all transfer pricing engagements, demonstrating executive presence.
      • Identify cross‑selling opportunities for Assurance, Tax, and Advisory services.
    • Supervisory Responsibilities
      • Supervise day‑to‑day workload of TP Managers and Associates, reviewing final work product.
      • Ensure staff are trained in transfer pricing principles and relevant databases.
      • Evaluate performance and provide timely feedback.
      • Serve as career advisor and support professional development.
    Education and Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics (required).
    • Advanced degree in Economics, Business, Law, or Finance (preferred).
    • Nine (9) or more years of transfer pricing experience (required).
    • Experience with in a transfer pricing advisory practice (preferred).
    • Preferred certifications: MBA, CPA, CFA, JD, or EA.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Familiarity with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, or other data analytics tools is advantageous.
    • Prior exposure to Go Systems, tax and economic‑research databases, or related software.

    • Strong organizational skills, team leadership, stakeholder management, and detail orientation.
    • Ability to multi‑task, work independently or collaboratively, and meet deadlines.
    • Effective delegation and team management.
    • Knowledge of tax filing sources, forms, and regulatory awareness.
    • Understanding of technical and practical tax issues and opportunities.
    • Knowledge of general calculations and taxable condition impacts.
    Salary

    National Range: $99,750 - $262,500
    Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500
    NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
