Role OverviewDucera Partners is seeking to expand its team in its Los Angeles office with investment banking team members to assist in deal execution and commercial activities across the broad range of products Ducera offers. Assignments may include mergers & acquisitions, strategic advisory, restructuring, liability management, capital markets, and growth capital, and may involve exposure to new issue advisory services (including ABS related issuances), strategic advisory assignments related to contingent financial risk and natural disasters, government and public-sector clients.
Team members can expect exposure to assignments focused on the western market, collaboration with teams in Los Angeles (primary), San Francisco and New York, and activity-driven exposure to advisory opportunities in topical industries and products. Recent power, utility, government and public policy assignments have included advising elected officials and regulators on wildfires and natural disasters, liability frameworks and capital markets implications, and new issuance advisory assignments including achieving the lowest cost on new security issuances.
The role provides experienced investment banking professionals the opportunity to operate at the intersection of corporate finance, strategic advisory, public policy, and capital markets, applying rigorous financial analysis and transaction execution skills to assignments.
- Work closely with senior bankers and clients in a lean team setting, demonstrating initiative, ownership, judgment, and professionalism while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Coordinate complex, time-sensitive work streams across internal teams and external parties, including clients, legal advisors, and other transaction participants.
- Actively participate in transaction execution, develop and review financial analyses and models, develop and review transaction structures, financing alternatives, implementation paths, and scenario analyses, and support senior bankers in client-facing interactions, commercial activities and deal execution.
- Prepare, review, and present client materials, including pitch books, strategic advisory presentations, transaction presentations, recommendations, and reviews of capital markets, ratings and credit perspectives to support discussions with clients and other stakeholders. This includes extracting perspectives from substantial content, third-party perspectives and recommendations, regulatory documents, credit and equity research, market reference points and internal experience.
- Monitor, track, interpret and inform the team on market and industry activity, including maintaining a database of comparable transactions, fundamental credit and cost of capital implications, alternative execution approaches, investor lists, and developments informing strategies and client recommendations.
- Maintain internal transaction and pipeline tracking tools in a fast-paced, multi-mandate environment, tracking news, legislative and regulatory activity and monitoring for opportunities. Over time, take an active role in covering clients and developing business development efforts.
- Manage day-to-day transaction execution work streams, including senior banker and client requests and timely analysis with strong attention to detail.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior team members.

- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing client presentations and analyzing company and transaction comparables.
