Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis

This position sits within a newly purchase, PE backed professional services organization.

Reporting to the CFO, the Manager will provide strategic financial insight and analytical support, partnering closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis. This individual will independently own core FP&A processes, develop advanced financial models, and deliver actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Office Environment: Mainly remote with office presence 1-2 times a week

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to gather inputs, assumptions, and financial data for planning models.
  • Analyze actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying trends, drivers, risks, and opportunities.
Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
  • Act as a trusted finance advisor, providing insights for strategic initiatives and business decisions.
  • Conduct scenario, sensitivity, and what-if analyses to evaluate potential outcomes.
  • Develop financial models and business cases for investments, pricing strategies, capital allocation, and new initiatives.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic transactions as needed.
Performance Reporting & Business Insights
  • Maintain KPIs, dashboards, and recurring management reporting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and recommendations clearly and action ably.
  • Ensure reporting consistency and accuracy across business units.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated forecasting, valuation, and scenario models.
  • Conduct detailed variance analyses and data-driven investigations to explain financial performance.
  • Utilize financial systems and analytics tools to enhance forecasting accuracy and generate actionable insights.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
  • Manage ERP and financial planning systems, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
  • Partner with IT and accounting teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline FP&A processes, improve scalability, and enhance reporting quality.
Accounting Collaboration & Month-End Support
  • Collaborate with accounting teams to support month-end close, including variance analysis and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data flow between accounting and FP&A systems.
  • Apply accounting expertise to validate results and strengthen reporting outputs.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner cross-functionally with accounting, operations, sales, marketing, and other business units.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders as a trusted financial advisor.
  • Communicate financial assumptions, risks, and recommendations clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or other professional certifications preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting roles.
  • Deep understanding of budgeting, forecasting, valuation, and financial planning methodologies.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with BI and automation tools a plus.
  • Experience with ERP and financial planning platforms (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, Adaptive Insights).
  • Strong accounting foundation with month-end close and financial statement preparation experience.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
