Steer point Capital is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead firmwide financial reporting, controls, and operational finance as the platform continues to scale and institutionalize. This role will be responsible for ensuring financial discipline across the portfolio, supporting asset and investment teams with accurate, timely reporting, and serving as a key interface with lenders, auditors, and external partners.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a finance professional who brings strong technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to operate comfortably in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial real estate environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across the portfolio
  • Oversee asset-level and consolidated financial reporting
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial statements
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures
Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
  • Lead annual budgeting and ongoing reforecasting processes
  • Track and explain variances to budget at the asset and portfolio level
  • Partner with Asset Management to support business plans, redevelopment initiatives, and NOI growth
  • Provide clear, decision-useful financial analysis to senior leadership
LP, Audit & Tax Coordination
  • Support preparation of LP reporting, capital account tracking, and financial disclosures
  • Coordinate audits, reviews, and tax compliance with external advisors
  • Ensure readiness for institutional reporting standards and governance expectations
  • Manage lender reporting, covenant compliance, and draw processes
  • Support financing activity, including refinancings, amendments, and waivers as needed
  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for lenders and financing partners.
Platform & Team Development
  • Help scale finance and accounting infrastructure in line with portfolio growth
  • Improve processes, systems, and workflows to support a growing institutional platform
  • Mentor and develop accounting and finance team members as the organization grows
  • Work cross-functionally with Investments, Asset Management, and Leasing
Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8–15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably within, Real estate private equity, Public or private REITs or Large real estate operating platforms
  • Demonstrated ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multi-asset portfolios.
  • Proven experience supporting LP reporting, audits, tax compliance, and capital account management.
  • Hands-on experience with debt facilities, lender reporting, covenant compliance, and financing-related workflows.
  • Background partnering closely with asset management and investment teams on budgeting, forecasting, and business plan execution.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong command of real estate financial reporting, NOI analysis, budgeting, and reforecasting.
  • Ability to communicate financial performance clearly and concisely to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment with a proactive mindset; anticipates issues and escalates appropriately.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple assets, deadlines, and counter parties simultaneously.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Yardi, MRI, or comparable real estate accounting systems preferred.
  • Effective cross-functional collaborator comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • High accountability and ownership mentality with a hands-on approach to execution.
