Position Summary
TCW is a leading global asset management firm with more than five decades of investment experience and total assets under management of approximately $200 billion as of spring 2025. TCW is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo among many other locations.
The Sovereign Analyst position in the Emerging Markets Group requires a deep knowledge of macroeconomics, political economy, and markets. The successful candidate will need to have a strong grasp of sovereign credit, currencies and local rates with experience making value-added and time sensitive recommendations across the sovereign fixed income investment universe in both local currency and external markets.
The successful candidate will be expected to have and continually develop a substantial network of primary contacts, including at relevant policy making institutions. The successful candidate will need to be a proven team player, capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment with an experienced team of sovereign analysts, corporate credit analysts, EXD and LCD strategists, traders, and portfolio managers.
Ideally, the Sovereign Analyst will be based in TCW’s Los Angeles office with the bulk of the EM analyst team and traders. We would consider medium term relocation to the TCW London or New York office(s). This position requires travel.
Essential Duties- Perform qualitative and quantitative research to analyze sovereign debt markets and sovereign macro fundamentals
- Make clear forward-looking investment recommendations in sovereign debt markets, including local rates, currencies, and hard currency bonds
- Provide relative value investment recommendations
- Communicate effectively with internal and external clients about markets and their macroeconomic, policy, political and geopolitical drivers
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant and direct experience within sell-side, buy-side, or related
- English language fluency (verbal and written)
- Motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience collaborating across functions and teams
- Advanced degree in economics, international public policy, or related
- Some experience working at a relevant policy institution (Central bank, IMF, World Bank, IADB, etc.)
Base Salary
:
For CA based position, the base salary range is $200k - $250k. This is an anticipated salary range only.
Other Compensation
:
Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus
