This position may be filled in the following parishes:
Calcasieu, Lafayette
- Serving as the engineer regional manager and supervising two subordinate engineers.
- Conducting surveys and evaluations of water and wastewater facilities using specialized public health engineering expertise to ensure protection of public health and compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations.
- Performing investigations, surveys, and evaluations of complaints from the public related to improper operation of water supply and wastewater facilities, including enforcement surveys to identify deficiencies and violations in Public Water Supplies.
- Reviewing and approving highly technical engineering plans and specifications for proposed water and wastewater facilities, as required by the State Sanitary Code and other laws, rules, and regulations.
- Providing functional supervision and technical assistance to consulting engineers, architects, sanitarians, water and wastewater operators, and public and elected officials regarding water and wastewater concerns.
- Preparing and delivering presentations on drinking water, wastewater, or other public health issues to industry personnel, facility operators, students, governing bodies, citizen groups, new media, and public forums.
- Coordinating and performing regional public health engineering responses to natural and man-made emergencies (e.g., floods, hurricanes, freezes, back-siphonage events, chemical contaminants, acts of terrorism, outbreaks of communicable diseases) by determining an immediate course of action based on risk assessment and public health engineering practices.
