The entry-level Estimator will provide and/or coordinate all estimating services necessary to procure various mechanical contracting projects. This includes preparing detailed bid packages, working with subcontractors, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of project estimates. This responsibility includes cultivating relationships with the Estimating Departments within our targeted community of General Contractors.

Key Responsibilities- Regularly contact the Pre-Construction Departments of our targeted community of General Contractors to identify opportunities.
- Review the Greensheet and on-line opportunity data bases for projects fitting our competitive profile.
- Evaluate opportunities to ensure we pursue projects with the best opportunity for success; are consistent with our business model; exploit our competitive advantages and can contribute margins consistent with the business plan.
- Review all plans, specifications, soils reports and contracts prior to preparing the estimate to ensure any impacts on the work are identified.
- Assist the Mechanical Estimating Department as required. This includes but is not limited to takeoffs, providing estimates for excavation, estimating below grade piping and tank installations.
- Learn and operate a computer-based take off and estimating system that can provide reproducible results.
- Assist in selling the project, including but not limited to developing a scope of supply; presentations if required; entertaining; negotiating and closing.
- Prepare the budgets for initial project set-up and any priced change order work for the Project Managers.
- Provide the Project Manager with the budgetary piece of the Labor Production Reports when utilized. Update this information with bid change order information as required.
- Participate in the kickoff meeting; presenting the scope of work, work plan, budget, unusual requirements and any critical limitations on the scope of our work.
- Monitor progress of the work for purposes of comparing actual production rates with bid rates.
- Assist in preparation of project forecasts, claims and schedules; if required.
- Participate in the weekly staff meetings for the purposes of identifying any scope deviations, monitoring production and forecasting future work. Assist with developing alternate plans to recover projects where actual performance is not meeting budgeted plan.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, business administration, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- High interest in pursuing opportunities within the construction industry.
- Skilled at presenting graphical data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Previous internship or recent entry-level experience related to construction preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across all levels of management.
- Expressed interest in business development, including building relationships with existing and new clients, is highly desirable.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must have sufficient to read printed and digital documents.
- Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
