The Engineering Intern will support the Maintenance and Engineering team by performing a full analysis of spare parts used across equipment and facilities. The intern will assist in data collection, part classification, criticality assessment, inventory optimization, and documentation improvement. This role is ideal for an engineering student interested in maintenance operations, asset management, and reliability engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze spare parts inventory (in the Container and shop) to identify critical components, usage trends, and opportunities for optimization.
- Classify spare parts based on criticality, equipment type, and maintenance strategy.
- Support engineering team with bill of materials (BOM) reviews and equipment documentation updates.
- Identify obsolete parts and support recommendations for alternatives or elimination.
- Prepare reports and dashboards summarizing findings and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in reliability and maintenance improvement projects related to spare parts availability and equipment uptime.
- Currently enrolled ina 4-year degree program, pursuing Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, as rising junior or senior OR currently accepted or enrolled in Master'sor PhD program.
- Candidate must currently have
GPAof 3.0 orhigher. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity/comfort with Excel, including working with Macros and pivot tables;
Microsoft word and PowerPoint. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Hands‑on experience in engineering maintenance and asset management.
- Exposure to real‑world reliability engineering and spare parts strategy.
- Practical skills in data analysis, reporting, and technical documentation.
The estimated pay scale for Engineering / A utomation Project Inter role based in California, is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour. Final compensation packages will ultimately dependon education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internalequityand market data.
