Designer (Plant 3D / Civil 3D)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)
Duration: 1-Year Contract (potential for extension)
Pay Rate: $45-$48/hour (DOE)

About the Role:

We are seeking an Designer to join a leading utility design team in Los Angeles. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical software skills and 3-5 years of related design experience who enjoys collaborating in a team-oriented, project-driven environment.

You'll work with designers and engineers to support model inquiries, review existing design data, and contribute to accurate project documentation that supports ongoing infrastructure design efforts.

This position is software-focused and supports model inquiries, database review, and design documentation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review internal design databases to identify existing models applicable to project requests
  • Support model inquiry requests and assist with design updates
  • Produce and modify piping layouts using Plant 3D
  • Utilize Civil 3D to support plan and profile development
  • Work with Google Earth and KMZ files to support location-based design validation
  • Follow established workflows, standards, and documentation requirements
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project staff
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Designer, Drafter, or related CAD role
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Experience supporting piping design and layout
  • Experience using Google Earth and KMZ files
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction
  • Clear communication and team collaboration skills
  • Stable work history with verifiable software proficiency
  • Exposure to Power Apps
  • Familiarity with P&IDs and basic process documentation
  • Exposure to transmission or utility pipeline projects
Work Schedule
  • Hybrid, 3 days onsite per week
  • First 2 months:
    Monday, Tuesday, Thursday required onsite
  • After 2 months:
    Monday required, additional 2 onsite days flexible
