About the RolePADCOM Design & Construction Management Services is seeking an Engineer III – Sr. Planner/Analyst (Airside/Terminal) to support LAWA’s Operational Planning Section. This role documents, analyzes, and develops solutions for current and future airport operational challenges across airside and terminal environments.
The position serves as a technical planning resource responsible for operational studies, simulation modeling, and data-driven recommendations to improve airport efficiency, capacity, and delay reduction.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate with operational business units to identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
- Collect and analyze aviation operational data including flight schedules, airfield tracking, passenger processing, staffing utilization, baggage handling, and space occupancy.
- Develop seasonal gated flight schedules and baseline gate/counter allocation plans for common-use facilities.
- Lead and review operational studies focused on capacity improvement and delay reduction.
- Evaluate impacts of construction, safety, policy, and operational changes on airport performance.
- Perform simulation and modeling analysis including gate utilization and passenger processing queue analysis.
- Review modeling assumptions, methodologies, and external analysis produced by other entities.
- Conduct field observations and gather operational performance data.
- Review conceptual layouts, stacking plans, and facility massing from an operational perspective.
- Provide space utilization recommendations and develop preliminary layout sketches.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, commercial stakeholders, and airport management.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and leadership.
Degree in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Aviation, Business, Operations Research, or related technical field.
Experience5–12 years of experience in airport planning, operations analysis, simulation, or data analytics.
Skills & KnowledgeProficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 products.
Experience with aircraft gate/stand allocation tools such as CAST.
Experience with simulation software such as Simio or similar flow modeling tools.
Preferred experience with statistical tools (Python, R, SAS).
Preferred experience with analytics platforms (Excel advanced analytics, Power
BI, Tableau, GIS).
Preferred experience with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or GIS applications.
Work Conditions & RequirementsMay assume additional duties as required.
May be required to work beyond regular shift hours.
May be required to work varying shifts depending on operational needs.
