LocationLos Angeles, CA area (Majority Onsite Across Southern CA Projects)
About the RoleA leading national EPC contractor in the renewable energy space is seeking a Field Engineer to support construction of utility‑scale solar and battery storage projects. This role provides hands‑on exposure to large energy infrastructure builds while supporting site leadership to ensure projects are executed efficiently and safely.
You will work closely with field supervision and project management to track progress, manage documentation, and support on‑site construction teams from project startup through final completion.
Key Responsibilities- Review and manage construction documentation, drawings, permits, and records throughout project lifecycle
- Track daily/weekly production metrics and prepare progress reports
- Attend and support field progress meetings with internal teams and client stakeholders
- Provide schedule and progress updates to field leadership and project management
- Assist with RFIs, change orders, and cost assessments as needed
- Identify out‑of‑scope work and communicate with the appropriate team members
- Support tracking of as‑builts, material delivery, and final documentation
- Help maintain internal budget tracking and cost awareness
- Summarize and submit time & material requests and related documentation
- Work closely with field crews to provide technical and administrative support
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred — OR relevant renewable energy/construction experience
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and project‑related software applications (e.g., Blue Beam, cloud‑based systems)
- Strong communication skills — both written and verbal
- Highly organized, proactive, and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
- A team‑oriented mindset with the ability to support and collaborate across multiple site teams
- ~90% onsite field presence required
- Typical schedules range from 40–60 hours/week depending on project phase
- Early start times common (e.g., 6 AM–3 PM)
- Must be flexible to travel across Southern & Central California when required
