Overview
The General Manager owns the business end-to-end. This role carries full P&L responsibility and direct accountability for operations, engineering execution, customer delivery, quality, compliance, and growth.
The GM is expected to operate the company as an independent business within Amca: setting priorities, allocating resources, building the team, and driving results with an owner’s mindset. The role is hands-on, close to the factory and customers, and tightly integrated with Amca leadership.
Responsibilities- Customers and Business Development
- Own key customer relationships across aerospace, defense, and industrial markets
- Manage RFQs, pricing strategy, and contract execution for standard and custom power products
- Develop new business within the existing customer base while maintaining focus on profitable, repeatable work
- Represent the company at industry events and with primes, Tier 1s, and sub-tier customers
- Align engineering, operations, and sales around clear customer priorities and delivery commitments
- Manufacturing and Engineering Operations
- Ensure on-time delivery while meeting quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee production of low- to mid-volume, high-mix power electronics, including prototype and production builds
- Direct materials planning, purchasing, and supply chain execution for electronic components and assemblies
- Lead coordination between engineering and manufacturing on design for manufacturability, testability, and reliability
- Oversee assembly, test, burn-in, and validation of power supplies and power control units
- Implement lean manufacturing practices in a regulated environment, including yield improvement, scrap reduction, and throughput optimization
- Quality, Compliance, and Reliability
- Maintain AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR compliance
- Ensure documentation, configuration control, and change management for electrical designs and production processes
- Support customer, regulatory, and government audits
- Oversee qualification, acceptance testing, and failure analysis for power electronics products
- Ensure the facility, personnel, and processes meet customer and regulatory requirements
- Finance and Strategy
- Own P&L performance including revenue growth, margins, and cost structure
- Develop annual operating plans and longer-term growth strategy in partnership with Amca leadership
- Set pricing strategy for custom and recurring programs with a clear view of cost, risk, and lifecycle profitability
- Oversee cost estimation, quoting discipline, and contract economics
- Prepare and present business performance clearly and directly, telling the story as an owner would
- 5+ years of experience in operations, engineering leadership, or sales within aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing
- Strong ownership mindset with bias toward action and accountability
- Experience leading teams in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Advanced Excel / analytical skills required, must be able to synthesize data by asking the right questions and analyzing to guide actions
- Clear, concise communicator with customers, operators, and executives
- Organized, disciplined, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing focus
- Plus
- Background in electrical engineering, power electronics, or related technical field
- Experience with power supplies, power conversion, or power control systems
- Experience in Tier 2–4 aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
- Prior P&L ownership or direct responsibility for business unit financials
